Mary Alice Morgan emigrated to America in 1874, arriving on the steamship IDAHO from Wales via Liverpool, England. Her widowed mother Ann (born Roberts) Morgan, and unmarried sister, Elizabeth Morgan, accompanied her. The IDAHO arrived in New York on July 6, 1874, after 12 days at sea. The leader of the 806-person LDS Immigration Company was P. Carstensen. The Master of the IDAHO was W. Forsyth.

In Utah, Mary married married and later divorced William Henry Kimball. She later married widower Joseph Baker. Mary Alice and Joseph birthed and raised 12 natural children, and also the her sister's daughter, Mary Geneva Morris,
